While transferring experiences are as diverse as students are, they share a common thread called articulation. Articulation is a two-step process. First, it is the process of transferring courses from 1 school to another, and second, it is the way the classes will be used at the receiving school. This website's goal is to make gathering this information simple. The iTransfer website represents the work of the Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI) and includes the general education curriculum, the specific curricula for baccalaureate majors and transfer information for faculty, advisors, and counselors.
The Illinois Transferable General Education Core Curriculum (IAI GECC) is a package of core general education courses that will transfer from 1 school to another and will count towards a degree at the new school. Successful completion of these core courses, composed of 5 fields or categories, can mean a smoother transition to any associate or bachelor's degree program at participating schools.
The Illinois Baccalaureate Majors' Recommendations (iTransfer Majors) outline freshman and sophomore courses for specific majors. A student following a prescribed major curriculum, who has also completed the IAI GECC, will be prepared to transfer as a junior (a minimum of 60 semester credits) into a baccalaureate major program.
The Faculty, Advisor and Counselor Transfer (Faculty/Advisor Info.) information section provides valuable information and guidance to education professionals. Our site calendar lists upcoming events, submission deadlines and professional presentations. Another key feature is the Q & A section, which addresses common administrative concerns. The overall purpose of this section is to keep educational professionals aware of current policies and guidelines.
For detailed information on using this site, see our help section. In addition to the website, we strongly urge students to consult with their academic advisors early and often throughout their academic career. Thank you for using the iTransfer website. Be sure to tell your friends about us!
