A big spring/summer project for your u.select and iTransfer staff was putting together a custom publication for students transferring in the state of Illinois. We have sent a couple of copies to the transfer offices of all our participating schools and the guidance counselors of the public high schools. If you need to order more, you may do so from the website at: http://www.itransfer.org/reorder/. If you would like to download the pdf, it is also available on the site: Your Guide to College Transfer.
I will be working at posting the many updates that were sent over the summer months to the iTransfer email. Due to some email difficulties and the redesign of the Advocate pages, I have been sadly remiss in posting the updates. I will work over the next month or so to get these posted for you. Our home page and news page should fill up with the many things TC's and IAI contact have sent. Please keep those updates coming!

You can view decisions for the IAI GECC Communications and Humanities and Fine Arts panels in WebReview. The courses are now in the archive so the best means to view them are by school. The approved courses have also been integrated into the database (this link takes a moment to load so please be patient with it) so you should also see them listed there. As a reminder, you can get the database updates at the beginning of each month for the previous month on this page in the iTransfer.org website.
If need assistance or direction using the WebReview system, please feel free to contact Krista at iTransfer.org by calling 309-438-8640 or emailing at itransfer@itransfer.org However, you may also try the following information on courses submitted to panels and the decision process.
Here's how it works: courses in the WebReview are archived about a week after the scheduled panel meetings. Once in archive, decisions on the courses will be entered to allow you see whether the course was "approved?,""not approved," or "not enough information."If the course was "approved," you probably will not find any additional comments/notes on the course posted with the decision. If a course was "not approved,"the panel may provide an explanation of why it was not approved and direction for the resubmission of course which often includes a suggestion of what you can do to help it be approved with the next submission. If a course is marked as "not enough information,"this means if the stipulations listed are met, the panel will approve the course. Stipulations for this type of decision can be submitted to the panel contact person at IBHE or ICCB and will be forwarded to the panel co-chairs for review and approval or they may request further information if the stipulations are not met with the additional information.

iTransfer & The Illinois Course Applicability System (CAS) In this informative new seminar, educators will discover which courses transfer credits from a community college (or dual credit course) to a state university or from one four year university to another. Types of transfer and new student resources, including iGET, which helps students chart their progress within the General Education Core Curriculum, will also be presented. Participants will learn about the use of the Course Applicability System (CAS), which allows students to check on the articulation of their coursework between Illinois schools and also helps them find answers in planning for transfer. Dear Colleagues, Welcome back to the new school year! Here are a few updates on the Transfer Policies at Columbia College Chicago. Click here to get the list of updates. (PDF File)
Transfer Coordinators: The IAI Manufacturing/Machining Major Advisory Committee has changed its recommendation to Industrial Technology. With the lack of jobs in the manufacturing sector and the fact that high school career and technical education in the area of manufacturing has diminished, the committee thought it was time to broaden their recommendation for students. You are invited to examine the proposed changes on the dev site in iTransfer and comment. Please submit comments to me by September 10. Click here to view the changes. Next steps include sending it to IAI participating institutions, reviewing comments to determine if any changes need to be made, making those changes, and posting the final recommendation on iTransfer. The committee has not yet decided if courses that were formerly approved for the IAI MTM codes will have to be re-submitted, or not. Please contact me if you need additional information, or wish to share your perspective. Thank you. Barbara Risse Staff to the Committee
An updated Transfer Coordinator Directory is available for Download in WORD and PDF format. The Directory includes contacts for all 2-Year and 4-Year, both Public and Private schools.
Thanks to Rita Pearson and her student worker at EIU for compiling this information!
Below is a copy of a letter presented to the IBHE Leadership group and is being sent to Chief Academic Officers this week regarding the completion of GECC post-matriculation as well as the Institutional Review Process for IAI courses.
Incomplete GECC/Review Process Letter
Eastern Illinois University will now accept students who have earned 24 semester hours with a 2.5/4.0 scale cumulative GPA overall and a 2.0 from the last institution attended or have earned 30 semester hours with a 2.0/4.0 scale cumulative GPA overall and a 2.0 from the last institution. This additional option is effective for the Fall 2007. Students with less than the 24 hours with the 2.5 or 30 hours with the 2.0 must have a 2.0 cumulative GPA overall and from the last institution attended and meet one of the following requirements: ACT 18 AND High School GPA of 3.0 or class rank in the upper forth; or ACT 19 AND High School GPA of 2.5 or class rank in the upper half; or ACT 22 AND High School GPA of 2.25 or class rank in the upper three fourths. Also, please remind your transfer students that no personal statement or essay is required. The essay section is an option, and is only utilized for a transfer student who does not meet the above criteria and is requesting special consideration.
Rita Pearson's Cute Kid Update.
The ICCB and IBHE staff are moving forward in implementing recommended revisions to the IAI process. In doing so, we have become aware of concerns from participating institutions related to the use of the IAI Major codes. As we explore this important issue, the IAI codes will continue to be in effect. The database that holds the codes has been archived by the iTransfer.org staff and is available at /IAI/FACT/PanelRelatedDocs.taf. If you have Microsoft Office, you should be able to access the site. If you cannot, notify www .itransfer.org@itransfer.org Website staff will be able to help you. Until these concerns have been addressed, you are being asked to continue to use the IAI Major Codes as you have in the past. However, at this time, the moratorium on Major Course syllabi review and approval will remain in effect. We appreciate your assistance as we move forward with Phase 4 of the Initiative. With your help, we are confident the results will continue the great work of the Initiative and will improve our collective ability to help Illinois students transfer. Sincerely, Rick Pearce Barbara Risse
You can download a copy of the Original Charge to the Major Panels and a clarification of the difference between the General Education and Major Panels here.
