| 3/26/2010 | IAI Physics Major Meeting will be held during the ISAAPT conference. Details of the Spring Meeting con be found on the ISAAPT site at: http://helios.augustana.edu/isaapt/ - It will be held on Mar. 26-27, 2010.
The Spring 2010 meeting of the Illinois Section of the American Association of Physics Teachers will be on March 26-27, 2010. It will be held at Blackburn College, Carlinville, Illinois (50 miles south of Springfield). The program theme is "Green Physics". There are five invited talks:
1. "What is Wrong with the Science of Global Warming", David Marx, Physics Department,
Illinois State University. Banquet speaker on Friday evening
2. "Astrobiology", Tom Foster, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville - Friday at 3:00 pm
3. "Green Roof Systems", Bill Retzlaff, Environmental Science Program, Southern Illinois
University Edwardsville - Friday at 4:00 pm
4. "Zoological Engineering - Form, Function, and Physics", Ed Zalisko, Biology Department,
Blackburn College - Saturday at 8:30
5. "Physics Olympics", Richard Gelderman, Western Kentucky University - Saturday at 11:00
Our meeting will take during the meeting, more than likely on Friday. Details will be sent to panel members. Questions or to confirm your participation if you are a panel member can be sent to iai@itransfer.org.
There will be five workshops. W1-W3 are on Friday morning, W4 is on Saturday morning and W5 is on Saturday afternoon.

W3. "Breaking the Rules: Oobleck and Other Slimey Stuff", Mark Armstrong
W4. "Global Warming", Panel Discussion - volunteers are needed for the Panel
W5. "Local Physics Alliance Zone Leader Meeting", Ken Wester and Carl Wenning

There are six categories of contributed presentations: (a) Active Learning, (b) Teaching Methods, (c) Demonstrations, (d) Research, (e) Student Research Symposium and (f) Other. The title of your presentation should be submitted by Friday, Mar. 12. The deadline for all of the information is Friday, Mar. 19. The deadline for banquet and lunch reservations is Friday, Mar. 19.
