Transfer Coordinators
General Education is the starting point for your transfer destination. Whether you're pursuing an associate degree (60 or more semester hours) or a bachelor's degree (120 or more credits), you'll need to take a set of core courses considered an essential foundation for a well-rounded education. The Illinois Articulation Initiative General Education Core Curriculum (IAI GECC) consists of a set of 12 to 13 courses (37 to 41 credits). Successful completion of these core courses at any participating college or university in the state of Illinois will facilitate transfer to any other participating associate or bachelor degree program.
You can find out which courses fulfill the core by using the Transfer Student Planning worksheet provided below.Remember to always seek advice from an academic advisor or admissions counselor early and often when making transfer plans.
