As a student seeking to transfer
For more than 25 years, the Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI) has helped students transfer college coursework among more than 100 participating public and private colleges and universities throughout Illinois. The IAI statewide transfer agreement includes:
- The General Education Core Curriculum (GECC) Package, which allows students to transfer completed general education courses among participating institutions.
- Lower-division course recommendations for 18 academic majors, helping students transition smoothly into bachelor's degree programs.
Overall, IAI is designed to make transferring between Illinois colleges and universities more predictable, efficient, and student-friendly. However, courses may also transfer through institutional agreements and partnerships outside of IAI, as colleges and universities across the state continue to collaborate in order to support seamless credit transfer and help students complete their degrees on time.
